Destination Wedding Photography in Aruba: Liz + Shane

It was 5 years ago when Natalie and I went to Aruba at the Stellaris Resort for Liz and Shane’s destination wedding.  We were so excited to go, and the whole trip was amazing!  The night before started out at the infamous Papiamento restaurant where the family opened gifts, gave some toasts, and indulged in really good food.  The wedding day started off very relaxed with everyone in a great mood, followed by ceremony on the beach, and perfect weather for the reception.  You couldn’t ask for better weather.  After the party, we convinced the remaining guests and bridal party to do a  jump in the pool- fully clothed.  One of the best things about this trip was that we met Liz’s sister Melissa.  Her and her fiancé Elias took us to the Dominican Republic last year for their destination wedding, where we also photographed a sunrise shoot for the first time.  Happy 5 year anniversary! est

Destination Wedding Photography: Cancun Mexico- Emily and Candace

Get comfortable people, this is going to be a long one…  I first heard of Emily Burke when her dad came to me for headshots about 10 years ago.  He said, “My daughter is really into photography, do you ever have interns?”  I said, “Sure why not!”  So Emily became my intern, then assistant, and eventually progressed to be one of the best lifestyle photographers I know, and of course a very good friend along the way.  I cannot be more proud of her.  Love you Em!!! Anyway, fast forward a couple years, she asked me to shoot her wedding to her best friend Scott, which I was honored to do… it was a great wedding!  Lots of laughs, lots of yelling, but overall one of my best weddings that I still showcase in the studio.  But then early last year, Emily found herself at a crossroad and decided to call me first to talk about it.  She fell in love with a woman… she has her own blog that describes her journey: sandandsouls.com, and I’ll let her take over from here: “There has been a sort of magnetic, unconditional love between us from the moment Candace and I met. It […]

Destination Wedding Photography: Cancun Mexico- Kayla and Justin

A mere month before her wedding, Kayla (a previous portrait client of mine) called me to see if we would be interested in going to Cancun Mexico for her wedding…. um, yes please!   OF COURSE we entertained the idea, and this is nothing new to us.  Timing worked out great!   We each had a separate wedding the night before, came home to pack, slept for an hour and off we went to JFK.  Here’s a little advice to anyone going to Cancun: do NOT listen to the people behind the counters.  If you have arrangements for pick up, just head outside and find your name…  Upon arriving at the Dreams Riviera Cancun, you are welcomed with champagne and treated like gold.  It’s a very nice resort! The night before the wedding was a rehearsal and small welcome dinner on the night of the Blood Moon eclipse. It was great to see that from the beach!  The wedding day started with Kayla’s sister Krystal doing hair and makeup (it’s what they both do) and all the typical wedding preparation fun. Ceremony took place on a patio with a custom made gazebo for just such an occasion, and we LOVE the fact […]

Castle Hill Inn, Newport Wedding Photography: Kim and Jim

We’ve been looking forward to this Castle Hill wedding for while now, and Kim and Jim couldn’t have asked for a better day!  It was the perfect Memorial Day weekend, and Newport RI is just an amazing place to have a wedding.  Kim had a stunning dress, and some fancy Christian Louboutin shoes that, needless to say, Natalie fell in love with.  Congrats Kim and Jim, and thanks so much for having us!

San Francisco Lifestyle Session

I know this shoot was a couple years ago, but being that I see Chris and his family on FB quite often, I figure I’d post some pics.  He originally found me on line, and was about to fly me out for a shoot, which is extremely flattering for even the idea of that, but then an old friend of mine was getting married, hired me, and while Nat and I were there for the wedding- we did this lifestyle shoot on a VERY cold day…
