Ashokan Wedding Photos in Hudson Valley: When Leah and her sister contacted me for her Ashokan wedding, they prefaced it by saying “we’re lifelong friends of Emily Burke, and have been big fans of your work!” I could not have been more excited for the opportunity to photograph Leah’s wedding! This happens quite often and I’m very grateful for when it does.

First and foremost, Ashokan is an amazing venue. It’s private, outstanding grounds, and the staff is beyond helpful. It was first time shooting there, and as much as it’s comforting to photograph at a location I know well, it’s very exciting to shoot at a new place. I feel like a kid in a candy store!  Ashokan was just perfect for this couple. As you will see from the photos, both Leah and Andres could not stop smiling the entire day.

I’ll let Leah herself tell her story: “I am originally from the Hudson Valley and I had heard of the Ashokan Center many times because they are known for their music/dance events in the local community. I had never been up there and had no idea they did weddings until Andres and I began our search for venues local to my hometown. We found out they offered an entire weekend for weddings, and we knew that would be the best plan considering we had so many guests from out of town. On top of it, the Ashokan Center has their roots based in education and nature and they are a non-profit. We wanted to give our money to an organization that we felt aligned with! While we had lots of DIY elements to our wedding, the logistics of planning were made easier by having support from Lisa and Bill, two great individuals on the Ashokan Center team. We chose Jimi Ferrara as our photographer because he came highly recommended by a friend who had him shoot her wedding. We also had an additional recommendation from another friend. On top of that, we loved his style, the rich colors, and variety of angles he uses in his photography. We felt like the way Jimi shoots, tells a story through pictures!”

Thank you so much for your kind words, and I’m so happy for Leah and Andres.  It was hard to narrow this down, but here goes.  Shout out to Valentina for helping me out, and very happy to say that this was my 500th wedding I photographed!
