You just have to roll with the times in these days of COVID for weddings of any size, and this certainly was the case with Shonita and Kenny for their New York City / Brooklyn wedding. It was a very small group of family and a couple friends starting with prep at a nearby hotel in CT, then off to their parent’s house in New Cannan. The morning was very laid back with no one rushing, lots of laughs, and everyone being as happy as they can be. This really set the tone for the rest of the day. Originally the ceremony was going to take place at a friend’s house in Brooklyn with a little outdoor area that had a trellis, vines, and a small patio. However, with rain heading our way, plans had to change immediately. Shonita’s sister was on it, and within minutes booked a hotel room in Manhattan with a balcony, a large meeting room, and a great view. The ceremony was quite the set up: lights, laptops, microphones, behind the scenes video, etc. All for a massive Zoom meeting with over 200 people from all over the world. Shonita and Kenny had family from India, friends in Australia, and all over the US chiming in. It was very impressive, and went off without a hitch.
Post ceremony (and after the couple had to say hi to all 200 plus people), we did a few photos on the balcony, then headed to Brooklyn. We walked along the promenade, hit the park with the Bridge in the background, and luckily we had plenty of time to do whatever we wanted. The weather held up for a little while, but eventually we did get caught in some rain- but nothing too bad. The couple and I found some brownstones to do some more photos, and then we all headed back to CT for the dinner.
I’m so happy for them, it was a great day given the restrictions of this time!
